Banks have started to issue more Rs 500 notes instead of Rs 2,000 denomination notes. Although there was no directive from the Finance Ministry, the banks own decided to fill their ATMs with smaller denominations for the convenience of customers. The Indian state bank has already announced that it has decided to stop using Rs 2,000 banknotes in its ATMs. This decision is seen as an attempt to prevent the hoarding of high-value money and therefore to curb black money.
