Most health plans do not cover fertility treatment costs including IVF procedures. With almost 10-15% couples facing difficulties in conceiving naturally, insurers are now considering covering IVF procedures under health plans. Most insurance companies may levy a longer waiting period and apply sub-limits for such coverage. Insurers may specify number of embryo-transfer attempts and additional cycles that may be covered in case the first cycle is not successful. Until now, insurers were reluctant to cover IVF procedures under health plans but may now include it in high sum insured policies with certain conditions.
